Yellow Class Victorian Day - Museum of East Anglian Life, Stowmarket - 4th October

During the morning the children explored the Finch Family home and learned about the household chores they would have been expected to help with, such as doing the laundry and butter making.

After a picnic lunch outside the children were sent off to school or to work in the fields. The schoolroom was a very bleak, bare place, not at all like our bright and cheerful one. Several children were found to be "lacking" therefore found themselves standing in the corner!
Some of the jobs in the fields included stone picking, bird scaring, hoeing, dibbing and riddling.

P.E. lessons were performed as quite regimented drill exercises.

All in all, most children (not surprisingly) seemed to prefer to be back in our own school !!
