Blog Comments
Unfortunately, we have recently been receiving a lot of spam comments on our blog posts, with anonymous users leaving a comment and link to their own sites. All comments are moderated before being published on the school blog, so you will not have noticed these, but I have been receiving multiple comments each day, which naturally take time to review and reject. I have therefore taken the step of preventing anonymous users from leaving comments, which will hopefully allow us to more easily report any spam messages. This means that to leave a comment, you will now have to log in with a Google account. I know this is an extra step, but I hope that you will understand why this is necessary.
Thank you for understanding, and please do keep leaving us comments.

A Letter from the Minister of State for Schools
Our 600th blog post!
I thought you'd like to read the contents of a letter I've just opened from Rt Hon David Laws MP - Minister of State for Schools...
It gives me great pleasure to congratulate you on the excellent performance of your pupils in the 2012 national Key Stage 2 tests as published on 13 December 2012.
The overall percentage of your pupils achieving Level 4+, combined with excellent rates of progress in both English and mathematics place you amongst the top performing primary schools this year.
Mastery of English and mathematics is critical to success at secondary school and beyond, so these pupils now have a really good start for the next stage of their education.
I would like to congratulate your staff, governors and pupils for their hard work and success, and to thank you for your leadership in continuing the drive towards the highest standards of educational achievement.
Here's to another great year in 2013

Thank you.
To all the staff, parents and pupils past and present -
I would just like to say a huge thankyou to you all for this evening. I was totally overwhelmed by the occasion, the gifts, the sentiments expressed by so many, and even the song at the end! I can hardly believe all of Yellow Class kept the plate such a secret!
Thankyou too, to the choir for their brilliant rendition of my favourite carol.
I leave after 13 years with so many happy memories - Earl Soham is truly a great place to work.
Barbara
P.S I'll be watching the blog to see what you're all up to!

Further Building Update...
The building work continues to progress well. The paving slabs have started to be laid and the roof now just needs to be glazed.

Good Bye Madelen!
Madlen, Foreign Language Assistant at Thomas Mills, has been leading our German Club since Christmas. She taught the children how to play, sing, talk and eat German style! Unfortunately she is now leaving us to return back to Germany. A very big Thank You to her!
We will miss you, Madlen!

Everything in One Place
The school website is now back online at www.earlsoham.suffolk.sch.uk. Thanks to our new hosting service, it just got even easier to get to things you visit regularly.
For parents and visitors, you can now get to our blog by typing blog.earlsoham.suffolk.sch.uk (no www.) into your address bar. Don't worry, the old address will still work and will redirect you.
For staff and pupils with a login, you can access all your Google Apps more easily too. As before, going to start.earlsoham.suffolk.sch.uk will take you to our portal page where you can access all the tools we use in school, including the learning platform.
Alternatively you can get straight to certain services just by changing the first word in the address bar.

Just a quick note to let you know that the school website will be offline for a few days while we transfer to a new host. In the meantime, the site can be accessed on a temporary basis at the following address:
There may be some areas of the site that do not work correctly, and a few broken links. Sorry for any inconvenience. We hope to have the site back up and running soon.
