Talent Show 2009

On Thursday afternoon the annual Earl Soham School Talent Show took place shortly after our Christmas lunch. There was a whole host of amazing (and some not quite so amazing) talents on offer. Here are some of the highlights.

The Play With No Name - a comedy.

Song and Dance Routines

Piano Duets and Solos

A Science Experiment

A special school edition of Strictly Come Dancing

Mind-Bending Magic

Instrumental Performances

And some slapstick comedy (mainly falling over!)

Christmas Dinner

On Thursday 17th December the children, staff and governors joined together to celebrate Christmas with a delightful Christmas dinner.

The children made hats and Christmas crackers (including some very corny jokes) and dinner was served by the Year 6s.

Governors enjoyed a joke...

...and everybody tucked in to a really lovely meal.

Due to a small technical hitch, some of us even had two dinners!

Thanks to Claire, our cook, for her hard work cooking the meal, and to everyone who helped to make it a really special occasion.

Christmas Carol Service

On Monday 14th December parents and children descended upon St Mary's Church in their droves for our Christmas Carol Service. The church was packed to bursting, with standing room only at the back.

The recorder group opened the service with a rendition of Coventry Carol and Good King Wenceslas.

Children in Red Class came dressed in costumes as angels...

...shepherds...

...Mary and Joseph...

..the three wise men...

...and the star.

We enjoyed some traditional carols and Red Class made a tableau of the Nativity during Little Donkey.

Each class gave a performance:

Red Class sang Ten Little Snowflakes...

Yellow Class sang While Shepherds Watched their Flocks by Night...

...and Blue Class performed Good King Wenceslas on a variety of instruments.

Even the staff were on show, with a performance of Rise up Shepherd and Foller.

All of this was interspersed with readings and poems from the children and an address by Reverend Brian.

The evening was topped off with talk and laughter back at the school hall, along with a good dose of mulled wine, mince pies and Stollen.
