Basketball Tournament Gold

On Thursday afternoon we took two teams to Debenham High School to take part in the Suffolk School Sports Basketball Tournament. We faced three teams from Occold Primary and one from Stonham Aspal. Both our teams aquitted themselves marvellously, with the B team taking the Bronze position and our A team taking home Gold medals to add to their collection.

It was a great afternoon and a pleasure to be able to watch them compete. Well done, all of you!

Basketball Tournament

Earlier this afternoon two teams from Earl Soham took part in the area basketball tournament at Debenham Leisure Centre. Both teams acquitted themselves incredibly well with one team reaching the semi-finals and the other winning their play-off for 5th/6th. 

It was great to be able to enter two teams who both competed so well with the other schools, some of which were significantly larger than us in terms of pupil numbers. The children certainly appeared to enjoy themselves and looked rather shattered by the end of the afternoon. As usual they played hard and fair and were a joy to watch.

Yet again our children were superbly supported from the balcony by the best 'fans' going! We could hear you loud and clear!

Battling Basketball Bronze

This afternoon, eight children took part in the basketball tournament at Stradbroke High School. In what turned out to be an eventful afternoon, Earl Soham turned on the style to finish third with some 'gutsy' performances.

Not sure why the boys are biting their medals? Were they testing for bronze content!?

Basketball Tournament

The two Earl Soham teams did themselves proud with a series of scintillating performances during this morning's basketball tournament.

After a rather slow start, the points total started to steadily increase every time they stepped onto the court. With sweat running down their brows and smiles beaming from cheek to cheek, Earl Soham became more and more competitive, fluent and effective.
Roared on by a large contingent of their parents, the children simply revelled in the environment which saw them at their best. By this I mean that they took a few early knocks in the opening games, but dusted themselves down, rolled their sleeves up, learnt from their experiences and flourished.
Our two teams did magnificently well to finish 3rd and 4th. To be honest, on the way back to school it felt like we'd won. I'm very proud of all 13 of you!

Basketball Tournament

This afternoon, ten children from Years 5 & 6 represented the school in the annual Basketball Tournament at Stradbroke Business and Enterprise College.

After some close fought and entertaining encounters, Earl Soham finished a highly creditable 4th place out of 9 competing teams. Well done!

Small Schools' Basketball Tournament - Friday 26th February

Seven children from Years 5 & 6 travelled to Stradbroke Business and Enterprise College, alongside 11 other schools, for the annual basketball tournament.

Earl Soham started strongly with a 10 - 2 victory over Thorndon. However, they were brought back down to earth with a defeat (8 - 0) to Wetheringsett. This was followed by a closely fought match against Wilby which resulted in a 2 - 2 draw. The next match was Earl Soham's performance of the day when they came back from 4 - 0 down to beat Occold 6 - 4. Tired legs were a telling factor in the last match when they were beaten 4 - 0 by Charsfield.

So, Earl Soham finished the tournament with the record of: Played 5, Won 2, Drew 1, Lost 2, For 18, Against 20. But, more importantly, they also finished with big smiles and the knowledge that they'd done their best in an extremely sporting manner.
