Haiti Earthquake Appeal - Cake Sale
After school today, after a weekend of mixing and folding, the school held a cake sale in aid of the Haiti Earthquake Appeal.
A great deal of effort had clearly been put in by children and adults alike.
Having totalled all the money from the 'Come as you Please' day, other donations and the cake sale we have raised a magnificent £270 for the appeal. Well done and a very big thank you to everyone for their efforts and generosity.

Haiti Earthquake Appeal
Following on from yesterday's assembly about the recent disaster in Haiti, the children decided on a few things they would like to do to help support the relief efforts. Today they decided on a 'Come as you Please' day wearing blue and red - the colours of the Haitian flag. This raised an incredible amount - £150. It was great to see the children and the school community coming together to support this.
A large group of children have also got together to organise and publicise a cake and drink stall for after school on Monday 25th January. They compiled a letter to send to parents and have done an incredible job in everything they've done. I look forward to Monday with great anticipation, your efforts and caring attitude will undoubtedly make it another success.

Resolutions 2010
With the new year upon us, and the snow having gradually melted away, children (and staff!) have made a wide range of resolutions for 2010.
They include:
'Open my curtains and make my bed.'
'Try really hard not top eat too much chocolate.'
'Help mum do more work.' 'To wear colourful socks!'
'Read for ten minutes every night.' 'To stop worrying.'
'To gain neater handwriting.'
'To do some more cooking.'
'To practise more moon-walking.'
'To not give up on things so easily.'
'To save energy.' 'To stop being mean to my brother and sister.'
'To be helpful around the house.'
'To eat healthier food and to lose some weight.'
'To stop putting my hands in my pockets.'
Will they be achieved...

An Author in our School
On Tuesday 12th January, Laura Watson (a scriptwriter) spent the day working with all children. She started off working with Yellow Class, beginning with a warm up which had the children 'drawing' a door and 'stepping through' - what could they see?
Then the children worked in groups, mapping out the beginning, middle and end of their fairy tale.
After some group planning, they created three freeze frames from their ideas.
Then it was back to class to plan their own stories, in three parts, in greater detail. This has given the children a great deal of work to do over the next few weeks...
Many thanks to Laura for giving the children so many ideas to get the children writing.

Fun in the Snow!
After an enforced absence following two days of closure due to the snow, the children (100%!) returned with warmth in their hearts, hats on their heads, gloves on their hands and wellies on their feet.
Those that chose to went outside during break and lunch, creating some masterpieces...

2010 - A Chilly Start!
It was a rather chilly start to the new year for everyone, including the four new full-timers pictured below.
However, the children wrapped themselves up and had a great time in the snow as can be seen in the pictures below. We may have cold hands, but we've got warm hearts!
Some strange objects were found frozen in the ice...
And one of Mr Pearce's Christmas presents created quite a bit of interest...
Welcome back everybody - here's to a fantastic 2010.
